Skylar Landerum, 8th Grade

“My family, my Dad is a Chief Warrant Officer and is deployed right now in Syria. Although far from home, he always manages to put a smile on our faces. My mom, has always put everyone before herself and my sister is in the US Air Force Academy and means a lot to me; I look up to her.”

Skylar Landerum

Skylar is in the 8 th Grade and was born in South Carolina. She is the daughter of a Mr. Jason and Mrs. Shayla Landerum, a Military family. She recently moved to El Paso from South Korea and has lived in many international countries, each providing a new cultural experience. She enjoys playing sports including soccer, basketball & volleyball. While in Korea, she learned the value of community service and would spend hours picking up trash around the base and working in community events. Locally, she walks her neighbor’s dogs and will be volunteering at the horse stables and the local animal shelters to help fuel her love for animals. She aspires to go to the U.S. Airforce Academy like her sister, to be an F22 Pilot and we are proud to name Skypar the co-recepient of The El Paso Star Youth Leadership Award. Keep up the great work Skylar and thank you Landerums and all our Military families for your service!
